The DataMotion Secure File Transfer service provides users with a way to send and receive files securely. It is possible to utilize the web portal or a file transfer client as an interface for this service, but this article will be focusing on the use of the popular file transfer client WinSCP. Please read through the instructions below to learn how to connect to your SecureMail account via WinSCP and perform file transfers using the Secure File Transfer service.<\/p>\n

Accessing Your Account<\/h3>\n

The instructions below cover the necessary information to connect to your SecureMail account in WinSCP. These instructions assume the WinSCP client is already open.<\/p>\n

  1. Open a new session.<\/li>\n
  2. Ensure the File protocol:<\/strong> is SFTP.<\/li>\n
  3. Set the Host name:<\/strong> to ssl.datamotion.com.<\/li>\n
  4. Set the Port number:<\/strong> to 22.<\/li>\n
  5. For the\u00a0User name:<\/strong>\u00a0field enter your SecureMail account\u2019s email address.<\/li>\n
  6. For the\u00a0Password:<\/strong>\u00a0field enter your SecureMail account\u2019s password.

  7. Click the Tools<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
  8. Click Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  9. Click Endurance<\/strong> (under the Transfer<\/strong> section).<\/li>\n
  10. Click the Disable<\/strong> radio button.<\/li>\n
  11. Click OK.

  12. Click the Advanced<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
  13. Click SFTP <\/strong>(under the Environment<\/strong> section).<\/li>\n
  14. Change the Preferred SFTP protocol version:<\/strong> to 4.

  15. Click OK.<\/li>\n
  16. Click the Login<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
  17. Click the Yes<\/strong> button to add the key to the cache.

  18. The connection to the server will be completed and your directory will be loaded.

    Sending a File<\/h3>\n

    Once you have connected to your account you will be ready to send files to recipients of your choosing. Follow the instructions below to send a file using Secure File Transfer.<\/p>\n

    1. Under the Outgoing directory select the email address you wish to send a file to.<\/li>\n
    2. (Optional) If you have no directories under\u00a0Outgoing<\/strong>, create one following the steps below:\n
        \n
      1. While in the Outgoing<\/strong> directory, click on the New<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
      2. Select Directory<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      3. Enter an email address for the Folder name.<\/li>\n

      5. Drag a file into the directory of your choice.<\/li>\n
      6. The file will be sent to the email address specified by the directory as a secure message.<\/li>\n
      7. Note that you may get an error regarding the chmod command not being supported. However the message will send despite this error.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Please note that once the file is uploaded the name of the file will be changed. The file will have the Message ID (MID) of the secure message that was sent to the intended recipient pre-pended to the filename. This will look similar to the following:<\/p>\n
